How many mw can a solar project have?

Bidders were allowed to offer a minimum project capacity of 50 MW and a maximum of 600 MW in a single bid. The total capacity that was to be awarded was 1,200 MW. Solar projects that were under construction, yet to be commissioned, or already commissioned but selling power on a short-term merchant basis were eligible for selection under the tender.

How much energy storage per MW of solar project paired with ESS?

Each awarded solar project will be paired with 0.5 MW/2 MWh of energy storage per MW of solar, as per tender conditions. The tender, floated under NIT No. 2025_NHPC_849707_1, invited bids for 1,200 MW of Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected solar projects, each required to be coupled with ESS.

How many homes are powered by a mw of solar?

The current national average (through Q4 2024) of homes powered by a MW of solar is 168. Since SEIA began calculating this number in 2012 it has line with the market share of system types and the geographic distribution of solar PV systems.

How much ESS do you need for a solar project?

The awarded projects must include ESS with at least 0.5 MW/2 MWh for every 1 MW of contracted solar capacity. The developers can set up projects across multiple locations, with each project having a minimum capacity of 50 MW and a minimum ESS component of 25 MW/100 MWh.
